Marble Sort Level 171 Guide: The Double Lock and Connected Box Trap

You are looking at a board designed to stall you out in the first five moves. Marble Sort Level 171 centers entirely around two massive purple vertical pillars blocking the middle of the Top Tray. These pillars are secured by a Lock and Key system. Until you open them, your middle columns are dead space.

Dominant colors here are Orange, Pink, Purple, Dark Blue, and Green. The Top Tray is front-loaded with an inviting row of Pink, Purple, and double Orange blocks. Down below, your starting row of bottom Boxes asks for Green, Orange, Orange, and Dark Blue.

The biggest trap in this level is right in your face. The game gives you a Pink and Purple block on the left side of the Top Tray, but no immediate Pink or Purple bottom Box to put them in. If you tap those left-side colors too early, they will sit on the Conveyor Belt and crowd out the marbles you actually need. You have to thread the needle to reach the keys.

The Double Pillar Pattern in Marble Sort Level 171

Every move on this board must serve the goal of opening the two locks.

Look at the Top Tray. It is divided into four main workable columns at the start. The two outer columns hold the keys you desperately need. Down on the bottom left, the key sits on a Light Blue block, buried under Pink and Green. On the far right, the second key sits on an Orange block, buried under an Orange, White, and Green block.

The middle of the Top Tray is heavily restricted. The two purple lock pillars cover the entire mid-to-late game marble supply. You cannot rely on the center for matches until those pillars drop.

Now look at your lower receiving area. The bottom Boxes are layered with thick black lines tying them together. These are Connected Boxes. You have a Pink tied to a Dark Blue, and a Purple tied to an Orange right behind the front line. Because they are connected, you cannot clear one without the other dropping down into play.

The immediate risk is Conveyor Belt capacity. The left side of the Conveyor Belt will get crowded instantly if you dig for the left key without clearing the front Green Box. You have to satisfy the front row of Boxes using a very strict release order, otherwise the board jams before the locks even open.

Marble Sort Level 171 Step-by-Step Walkthrough

Follow this exact order to clear the front row safely, reveal the hidden lower rows, and unlock the midgame pillars.

Surviving the First Taps in Marble Sort Level 171

Your opening taps must clear the front-center without clogging the belt. Do not touch the left side of the board yet.

  1. Release the two front Orange blocks. Tap the Orange block in the third column and the Orange block in the fourth column of the Top Tray.
  2. Clear the middle. Those marbles will drop and immediately fill the two center Orange bottom Boxes.
  3. Analyze the new drop. With the Orange Boxes gone, the board shifts. The Connected Boxes drop into active play. You now have a Pink Box and a Purple Box available.
  4. Play the left front. Now you can safely tap the front Pink block from the first column of the Top Tray. It will flow perfectly into the newly revealed Pink Box.
  5. Play the mid-left front. Tap the Purple block sitting in the second column. It will flow into the Purple Box.
  6. Reveal the corners. By removing that front layer of Pink and Purple, you just exposed a Green block in the first column and a Dark Blue block in the second column.
  7. Clear the outer front. Tap the Green block to fill the front-left Green Box. Tap the Dark Blue block to fill the front-right Dark Blue Box.

Your Conveyor Belt is now totally clean, and the front row of the board is completely eliminated.

Dropping the Purple Pillars in Marble Sort Level 171

With the front row gone, the Lock and Key targets are exposed, but you still have to dig to reach them. The board opens up, but the Connected Boxes below become much more hostile.

  1. Target the left key. The key on the left is attached to a Light Blue block. You need a Light Blue Box to appear on the bottom before you can tap it.
  2. Target the right key. The key on the right is attached to an Orange block. Look at your right column. You have White and Green sitting on top of it.
  3. Clear the right-side trash. Wait for a White Box and a Green Box to cycle into the active lower slots. Once they appear, release the White and Green blocks from the fourth column.
  4. Claim the right key. As soon as an Orange Box is active, tap the right-side Orange block holding the key. One purple pillar will instantly vanish, revealing a massive cache of Yellow, Brown, and Dark Blue marbles in the center.
  5. Hold the center. Do not spam the newly revealed center colors. You still have one lock left.
  6. Claim the left key. Match away any blocks above the Light Blue key block on the left side. Once a Light Blue Box appears below, drop the key block. The second purple pillar will vanish.

Clearing the Late-Game Diagonal Ties in Marble Sort Level 171

Once both pillars are down, the entire Top Tray is available. However, the bottom receiving area will start spawning diagonally Connected Boxes. You will see combinations like Brown tied to Pink.

  1. Scan the connected lines. Before tapping anything from the newly opened center, trace the black lines on the bottom Boxes.
  2. Prioritize the linked colors. If a Brown Box is tied to a Pink Box, look for both colors in the Top Tray. Drop them back-to-back. Do not drop a color if its connected partner is buried.
  3. Use the deep center. You now have access to deep stacks of Yellow, Pink, and Light Blue in the middle columns. Pull from here only to satisfy the current front row of Boxes.
  4. Watch the belt. The late game throws large clusters of marbles at you. If a Box requires six marbles and you only have a block of three available, leave it alone until the second block is exposed.

Keep pulling in pairs to match the Connected Boxes at the bottom, and the rest of the board will collapse easily.
