Marble Sort Level 178 Guide: The Double Mystery Box Trap

Marble Sort Level 178 hits you with a massive information blackout right from the start. You are looking at a giant wall of grey blocks. Both the top half of the board and the bottom receiving area are heavily obscured.

The top setup features a 6x7 grid where almost every single marble is hidden inside a Mystery Box marked with a question mark. Only the very bottom row of the Top Tray is visible. From left to right, you get Green, Orange, Light Blue, Mint Green, and Dark Blue.

The bottom area is just as frustrating. You have four active columns. The starting Boxes are Black, Dark Blue, Mint Green, and Dark Blue. Everything stacked below them is another Mystery Box.

The math does not add up here. You have a Black Box waiting on the far left, but absolutely zero Black marbles are visible in the Top Tray. You also have two Dark Blue Boxes demanding marbles, but only one Dark Blue block is available to drop. This level forces you to guess. You have to blind-tap blocks to find what you need, and if you mismanage your space while digging, you will fail quickly.

Exposing the Blind Traps in Marble Sort Level 178

Every Marble Sort board has a specific rhythm. This one is entirely about impulse control.

When you load into the board, the Green, Orange, and Light Blue blocks sitting on the bottom left of the Top Tray look incredibly tempting to tap. They are totally free. Do not touch them. They are pure bait. Because you do not have any active Boxes for those colors, sending them down will instantly clog your Conveyor Belt.

The real problem sits in the bottom Boxes. The double Dark Blue requirement paired with the missing Black marbles dictates your entire opening strategy. You cannot clear the left side of the board without Black. You cannot clear the right side without finding a second set of Dark Blue marbles hidden somewhere under those ? blocks.

Because the bottom columns are also entirely made of Mystery Boxes, you cannot plan two steps ahead. You only find out what color is required next exactly one second after you clear the current Box.

This means the Conveyor Belt is your most critical resource in Marble Sort Level 178. You will have to use it as a temporary waiting room for wrong guesses. If you fill it up with that bait Green or Orange early, you will have zero room to hold the random Red, Purple, or Pink marbles you accidentally uncover while digging for Black.

Marble Sort Level 178 Step-by-Step Walkthrough

You need to clear space before you can dig. Follow this exact drop order to survive the opening blind spots.

Surviving the Opening Blind Drops in Marble Sort Level 178

Your first taps must be exact. One wrong drop into the Conveyor Belt ruins the run.

  1. Drop the Mint Green marbles: This is the only clean match you have. Tap the Mint Green block in the Top Tray and send it straight into the Mint Green Box.
  2. Drop the Dark Blue marbles: Tap the visible Dark Blue block on the far right. Send it down. It will partially fill one of your Dark Blue Boxes, but the Box will not clear yet.
  3. Ignore the left side: Leave the Green, Orange, and Light Blue blocks exactly where they are.
  4. Start the vertical dig: You now have two empty gaps in the bottom row of the Top Tray. The ? blocks directly above where the Mint Green and Dark Blue used to sit are now exposed. Tap them.
  5. Hunt for Black and Dark Blue: As those new blocks reveal their colors, react carefully. If you reveal Black, drop it immediately to clear that left Box. If you reveal more Dark Blue, drop it to finish off the active right Boxes.
  6. Hold the garbage: If you tap a ? block and it reveals Pink, Purple, or Red, let it sit on the Conveyor Belt. Do not panic. Just keep tapping the next newly exposed ? block in that same vertical column until you find your missing Black or Dark Blue.

Managing the Midgame Chaos in Marble Sort Level 178

Once you finally clear the Black Box and the Dark Blue Boxes, Marble Sort Level 178 shifts gears.

  1. Watch the bottom reveals: Clearing the front line pulls up the next row of Mystery Boxes in the bottom columns. You will suddenly see new color demands. Usually, this is when Pink, Purple, or Red Boxes show up.
  2. Clear the waiting room: Look at your Conveyor Belt. If you have Pink or Purple marbles sitting there from your earlier blind digging, and the matching Boxes just appeared, let them slide in and clear out. This restores your Conveyor Belt space.
  3. Release the hostages: Remember those Green, Orange, and Light Blue blocks you left on the bottom left of the Top Tray? Their matching Boxes will finally reveal in the midgame. Drop them now. Clearing them opens up the entire left side of the Top Tray for digging.
  4. Drill columns, do not skim rows: As the midgame opens up, do not just tap random ? blocks across the bottom. Pick one vertical column in the Top Tray and clear it out from bottom to top. This creates a deep hole in the grid and exposes way more ? blocks at once. More exposed blocks mean you can visually plan your next moves instead of guessing.
  5. Pace your blind taps: Never tap a Mystery Box if you only have one or two empty spots on your Conveyor Belt. Always clear a Box first to guarantee you have buffer room for a bad color pull.

Closing Out the Board in Marble Sort Level 178

The end of the level is actually easier than the start, provided you kept the belt clean.

  1. Chase the remaining Boxes: By the time you reach the top rows of the Top Tray, the ? blocks will be mostly gone. You will have full visibility of the remaining Pink, Purple, and Red clusters.
  2. Match bottom to top: Look at the last few bottom Boxes. If a Purple Box is active, hunt for the remaining Purple in the tray. Drop it, clear the column, and let the final marbles sort themselves. Keep your drops tight and the board will empty out.
