Marble Sort Level 680 Guide: The Giant Vertical Chain and Left-Side Key Trap

Welcome to one of the most visually intimidating layouts in the game. This board is completely divided. A massive metal chain runs straight down the middle of the Top Tray, held together by a large yellow lock. You cannot play the center of this board. You are forced to the edges.

The dominant colors right out of the gate are Purple, Cyan, Orange, and Light Green. But having those colors available does not mean you should use them. The entire board is a maze of grey tiles marked with question marks. These Hidden Boxes cover the upper half of the board and completely bury your only way out. That way out is the golden key. Look at the absolute top left corner of the Top Tray. The key is stuck up there behind layers of unknown marbles.

If you do not plan your bottom Box clears perfectly, your Conveyor Belt will jam before you even reach the second row of the Top Tray.

The Split Board Pattern in Marble Sort Level 680

You need to read this specific board from the bottom up. The bottom receiving Boxes dictate everything.

Look at the front row of your bottom Boxes. From left to right, you have Light Blue, Dark Green, Cyan, and Pink. This is your immediate bottleneck. Now, look up at the lowest accessible row of the Top Tray. From left to right, you have Orange, Purple, Purple, Cyan, Cyan, Light Green, and Brown.

Do you see the massive trap?

You have tons of marbles ready to drop, but almost nowhere to put them. Orange is pure bait. The Orange bottom Box is buried deep in the second and fourth columns. If you drop those Orange marbles now, they will sit on your Conveyor Belt and take up critical space. Light Green is exactly the same. Its bottom Box is trapped beneath Light Blue in the first column and behind Pink and Red in the fourth column. Touch the Light Green right now, and you die.

The only safe match between the Top Tray and the front row of the bottom Boxes is Cyan.

The entire goal of this board is the Lock and Key mechanism. Because the key is in the top left corner, the right side of the board is a distraction. You have to carve a narrow, vertical path up the left side of the Top Tray to reveal the Hidden Boxes and grab that key. Clearing the right side does nothing for your main objective. The left side is where the game is won or lost.

Follow this exact order. One wrong drop in the opening sequence will fill your Conveyor Belt with dead colors.

Surviving the First Taps in Marble Sort Level 680

Your opening moves must be highly disciplined. You are playing to open the left columns.

1. Tap the two Cyan marbles sitting in the middle-right of the Top Tray. Send them down to the Conveyor Belt. They will instantly clear the Cyan bottom Box located in the third column.
2. Clearing that Cyan Box is the trigger. It reveals the Purple bottom Box right behind it.
3. Immediately drop the two stacks of Purple marbles sitting on the left side of the Top Tray. They will flow into the newly opened Purple bottom Box and clear it out.
4. Stop right here. Do not touch the Orange marbles on the far left. Do not touch the Light Green marbles on the right. Both of those are deadly traps that will permanently clog your Conveyor Belt.
5. Look at what the Purple clear uncovered. You now have access to a Light Blue box and a Pink box on the left side of the Top Tray. Drop the Light Blue marbles to clear the front-left bottom Box.

Pushing Through the Hidden Boxes in Marble Sort Level 680

Now that the front-left bottom Box is gone, you have access to the Light Green receiver beneath it. You can finally start moving up the left side of the board.

1. Drop the Light Green marbles from the Top Tray to clear that newly revealed Light Green bottom Box in the first column.
2. This action strips away the first layer of the Top Tray. You will now expose the bottom row of grey Hidden Boxes.
3. Because Hidden Boxes only reveal their colors when a nearby box drops, you must keep clearing adjacent tiles. Drop the Pink marbles on the left side into the front-right Pink bottom Box to force more reveals.
4. Watch your Conveyor Belt space. The Hidden Boxes will throw random, unplannable colors at you. If an unknown box reveals Dark Green, drop it immediately into the second column's Dark Green receiver.
5. Keep all your focus on the far-left column. Ignore the right side numbered blocks and right side Hidden Boxes entirely. You are digging a straight vertical tunnel to the top-left corner.

Breaking the Center Lock in Marble Sort Level 680

The endgame relies entirely on dropping the center chain.

1. Once you uncover the golden key in the top-left corner, wait for its matching bottom Box to become available. You may need to temporarily store one or two off-colors on your Conveyor Belt to reach it. Do it. Grabbing the key is worth sacrificing slot space.
2. Drop the key. The massive yellow lock in the center of the Top Tray will shatter. The heavy vertical chains will disappear.
3. The board will instantly flood with newly accessible marbles from the middle columns.
4. Your Conveyor Belt will likely be tight right now. Immediately clear the trapped Orange and Brown marbles that have been sitting safely at the bottom of the right columns since the start of the level.
5. Work your bottom Boxes front-to-back. With the center chain gone and the Hidden Boxes exposed, the tension vanishes. Sort the remaining primary colors to finish the board.
