Marble Sort Level 249 Guide: The Triple Crate and Gift Box Trap

Marble Sort Level 249 is a massive bait-and-switch. You load in, see a few easy light green and white matches, and think it will be a fast clear. It is not. The entire board is locked down by a massive wooden wall in the upper section. You have to navigate a highly restrictive opening just to break the wood, and if you pick the wrong starting color, your belt jams instantly.

This board is split into two distinct phases. The opening is all about clearing the front lines to activate the surrounding obstacles. The mid-game turns into a frantic scramble to manage an influx of new colors. I have broken down exactly how this board is layered so you can pull the right colors in the right order.

The heavily barricaded pattern in Marble Sort Level 249

When the level begins, the Top Tray is an absolute fortress. The center is dominated by three giant wooden Crates. Each of these holds four hidden boxes, but they will not break until you clear three nearby boxes. Flanking the top of these crates are two blue Gift Boxes stamped with a number "3". You have to drop boxes near them three times to pop them open.

Surrounding this entire wooden structure is a thick ring of grey Hidden Boxes. You cannot see what color they are. They only reveal themselves when you drop an adjacent box. The only playable boxes at the start sit right at the front lip: three light green boxes and one white box. Tucked just behind them are solid blocks of blue and green.

The bottom Boxes dictate exactly why this opening is so dangerous. You have four stacked columns waiting for marbles. The top active row is light green, white, dark blue, and light green. Beneath that front layer, you have more white and light green, but also purple and red waiting to surface.

The dark blue bottom Box sitting at the top of column three is pure bait. Do not touch it early. There are zero exposed dark blue boxes in the Top Tray at the start. If you try to force that dark blue stack early, you will pull random colors from the Hidden Boxes, clog your Conveyor Belt, and fail before the Crates even break. You must work the outside edges first.

Marble Sort Level 249 Step-by-Step Walkthrough

Follow this exact pull sequence to safely open the board. The priority here is strictly managing belt space until the wood cracks.

Surviving the dangerous opening in Marble Sort Level 249

The first moves dictate whether you win or lose. The board wants you to panic and pull unknown colors. Do not do it. Keep your Conveyor Belt clean.

  1. Pull the exposed light green boxes from the front of the Top Tray. Send them directly into the light green bottom Boxes sitting at the top of column one and column four.
  2. Drop the exposed white box. Send it straight into the active white bottom Box in column two.
  3. Watch the grey Hidden Boxes carefully. As you clear that front row, the grey boxes touching them will flip and reveal their true colors.
  4. Look exclusively for more light green and white marbles among these newly revealed boxes. Use them to finish off the remaining light green and white bottom Boxes stacked in the upper halves of columns one, two, and four.
  5. Completely ignore the dark blue bottom Box in column three. Let it sit there. Releasing colors that do not have an active matching Box will instantly ruin your run.

Shattering the Crates and Gift Boxes in Marble Sort Level 249

Once you clear enough of the front and side boxes, the real mechanics trigger. The board explodes open, and the pressure on your belt spikes.

  1. Position your clears next to the wooden Crates. Once three adjacent boxes drop, a crate will violently shatter, exposing four new playable boxes. Target the bottom-center crate first to open up the middle of the board.
  2. Focus your next few clears near the top of the remaining Crates. This will tick down the counter on the two Gift Boxes.
  3. Once the counter hits zero, the Gift Boxes burst, vomiting a fresh batch of boxes into the Top Tray.
  4. Look down at your bottom Boxes. The light green and white stacks should be mostly gone. Purple and red bottom Boxes will now shift up into the active slots.
  5. Sift through the massive pile of newly exposed boxes from the broken Crates and popped Gift Boxes. Prioritize sending purple and red marbles down to clear these newly active lower Boxes.
  6. Now, finally, look for dark blue. With the crates gone, you will have enough dark blue exposed in the Top Tray to safely feed that stubborn dark blue bottom Box in column three.

Managing the massive color shift in Marble Sort Level 249

After the crates and gift boxes are completely cleared out, the level morphs into a completely different puzzle. The top area is now flooded with mid-game colors.

  1. The active bottom Boxes will shift heavily into new territory. You will see a flood of brown, orange, pink, light blue, and dark green.
  2. Stop pulling aggressively. The Conveyor Belt gets incredibly tight here because the top board is wide open. You have too many options. Pick one stack to burn down.
  3. Target the pink bottom Boxes first. Column two and column three are heavily stacked with pink. Pull every pink box you can find in the newly exposed upper area.
  4. Clear the orange bottom Boxes next. They are sitting right beneath the pink layers.
  5. Save the brown and dark green boxes for the very end. The dark green bottom Box is buried deep at the top of column four, and the brown is capping column one. Only pull these colors when you have a direct, unobstructed path to clear them.

Keep your pulls disciplined in this final phase. Marble Sort 249 punishes greedy clears. Break the wood, manage the new color wave, and take the win.
